Eva's Summer Reading Tale
June 13, 2011
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Eva. She was just seven months old, but already enjoyed a number of hobbies including waving hello and goodbye, chewing on toys, pulling herself up to a standing position on various pieces of furniture, and babbling.
One of the things that Eva loved to do most was to listen to the library books that her parents would read to her. She liked to look at the pictures and point to the interesting shapes and patterns she saw. Eva got to listen to a lot of library books because her mommy worked at the library and would bring home new books to explore almost every day.
As summertime approached, Eva heard about a program that the library was offering called the Summer Reading Program. It sounded really neat because it gave kids a chance to read for a specified amount of time in order to earn free books to keep! As cool as this program seemed, it kind of made Eva sad because she didn’t know how to read, and if she couldn’t read, then how could she earn any free books?
But wait! What amazing luck—it turns out that the Summer Reading Program had a special opportunity just for listeners! Eva’s mommy could read 24 books to her in order to earn a free book! It wasn’t necessary for Eva to be able to read by herself in order to participate in the Summer Reading Program.
Hooray!
It did not take long for Eva to complete her first list of 24 books. Once her mommy had recorded all of the titles on the Summer Reading Program web site, Eva’s parents took her to the library to pick up her free book! She decided to get a board book titled All About Me.
Eva can’t wait to finish her 2nd list so she can select another free book. As long as she listens to all of her Summer Reading Program books by July 30th, she has the potential to earn a total of 3 free books this summer. She is confident that she will succeed and live happily ever after.
Get your listener or reader signed up for the Summer Reading Program now and have your own happy ever after with free books!
