Employee of the Month for August
August 17, 2012
This month, I had the pleasure of interviewing Bob for the Employee of the Month for August. Bob is a fun guy to work with, and many people enjoy seeing him when they visit our branch. You’ll know him when you see him because he always has a smile on his face!
Me: Bob, what position do you hold at the Excelsior Springs Branch?
Bob: Librarian Assistant I.
Me: And what do you do?
Bob: What needs to be done! (He chuckles) I take care of the address changes and missing reports. And, I visit with all the patrons. (He smiles)
Me: How long have you worked at the Library?
Bob: Almost 12 years.
Me: That’s a long time! What was one of your highlights?
Bob: Getting a paycheck! (He chuckles again)
Me: So, being here that long, you’ve probably seen lots of changes. Can you name a few?
Bob: Well, the Library has been painted, we’ve changed the way we do the holds, the children’s juvenile areas and programming have been expanded, and we’ve added public computers. Of course, the self-checkout is new, we’ve had a new front desk put in, and many employees here have come and gone. We now have a book drop, new carpeting, and the parking area has been resurfaced.
Me: Wow, that’s a lot! Thanks for sharing, Bob!
Join me next month to see who will be Employee of the Month of September. And don’t forget to say “hi” to Bob the next time you’re in the Library – he’ll have a great smile for you!
