The village of Claycomo is gearing up for their election for the board of trustees. Residents can cast their ballots on Tuesday, April 2nd from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the community center.
This year there are nine candidates for the three open spots. The candidates are: Marina Barker, Dan Baumli, John Cooper, Raymond Littrell, Linda Powell, Richelle Scarborough, Jim Stouffer, Greg Thompson, and Benjamin Watkins IV.
The candidates meet their respective constituency on Thursday, March 28th at the community center. Each of the nine players was allowed two minutes for an opening address, and then they took questions from the audience. The evening was moderated by local businessman, Greg Dorsey.
Candidates were quizzed on making unpopular decisions when many would profit, working with current staff, and their future goals for a board term. Responses in the audience ranged from nods of appreciation to sighs of frustration.
The Claycomo village board of trustees is comprised of five members. They meet twice monthly. All residents interested are encouraged to cast a vote on Tuesday and participate in their local government.
