Edgerton Pioneer Days
September 01, 2012
Edgerton, Missouri isn’t known for much. A small, quiet town located in the corner of Platte County, we are easily overlooked unless you are passing through….accidently. You may have heard of Harmer’s Café, which we are delighted to have back in business after a short hiatus. You may have heard of the Union Mill Opry, which we are sad to say is no longer running after many years of providing many people with great entertainment. But probably the most popular draw to our quaint little neck of the woods is Pioneer Days.
Incorporated in 1972, the Pioneer Days Festival will celebrate its 40th year over the weekend of Sept 8, 9, and 10. A fish fry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the American Legion Building will kick things off. Be one of the first 25 people in line and you will get a great meal for free! And parents bring the little ones in for the little Mr. and Missy contest Friday evening.
Afterwards, you can mosey around the park and take in all the craft and merchandise booths and maybe a snack or two if the fish dinner didn’t fill you up. The Krazy Kats will jazz things up with some 50s and 60s tunes for you to shake a leg to before you head home for a good night’s sleep. After all, you have to be back Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast at the American Legion!
The Edgerton Branch will be giving away cotton candy from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while supplies last. So, come on in and check out our L ibrary! The Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, and then you can eat some barbeque in the park and buy some raffle tickets for some cool prizes. There will be drawings throughout the day. Elvis will be in the park Saturday afternoon to woo the ladies. But don’t go home too early; our own local country superstar Matt Snook will be giving a free concert in the park at 8:00 p.m. We hope you will attend the outdoor Church Service in the park Sunday morning and treat your family to a taco lunch at the American Legion at 11:00 a.m. to finish out the festivities.
For information, you can call Staley Snook 816.790.3325. For Little Mr. and Missy Contest info, call Megan Knott at 816.729.5252. You can also visit the Pioneer Days Arts & Crafts or the City of Edgerton pages on Facebook for more information.
Hope to see you there!
