eBooks and Romance – A Match Made In HEA-ven
April 18, 2011
I just received an eReader as a gift from my husband. I was reluctant to test out this new way of reading books because I was convinced I would miss the tactile feel of a book in my hot little hands. I couldn’t have been more wrong! ePublishing is the hottest trend around and romance is the leading genre, outselling more than any other combined.
ePublishing comes at a time when the publishing industry itself is in flux. Sinking revenues and a depressed economy, combined with a public that wants-it-now has created a difficult situation if business is played by the traditional model. What publishers have done is respond in a manner that meets the immediate gratification required to keep customers happy and coming back, while decreasing overhead.
It’s a Wild West out there for publishing houses and independent authors. I predict the next few years will see a burgeoning of creativity in literature that’s great for writers and readers alike, especially in romance.
