Dream Big READ!
May 21, 2012
It’s that time of year again! The 2012 MCPL Summer Reading Program theme is "Dream Big...Read!" Beginning May 21, children are able to earn free books and prizes at their local Library. Children, ages birth to 6 years, listen to books being read to them and ages 6 to 11 read on their own.
"Own the Night" is the them for teens. Teens can earn library bucks by reading and reviewing books. Bucks can then be redeemed for prizes and library services.
Opening children’s minds to the wonders books have to offer is a great way to encourage imagination and creativity. The Library gives kids access to this wonderland no matter their age or what their interests may be. Reading during the summer has proven to sustain progress children make during the school year, sharpening their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
Be sure to pick up a yellow "Summer Fun Guide," and see the exciting and entertaining programs scheduled for this summer. There are programs for children of all ages.
