Don’t Get a Summer Read; Get a Summer Write!
May 21, 2012
You know, it’s pretty common at this time of year to assemble some books that you’d like to read over the summer. This year, though, I encourage you to create a list of just one book—that you want to write. Welcome to Camp Nanowrimo!
Camp Nanowrimo is a pared down version of November's novel-in-a-month Nanowrimo challenge. There’s the same word count goal and same month-long deadline, just with none of the November. In 2012, there are two sessions of Camp: in June and August.
Starting June 1st, the Boardwalk Writers will begin our stay at Camp Nanowrimo, where we will each take on the exhilarating-and-slightly-okay-very-crazy challenge of writing a complete novel in 30 days. Our writing group has been meeting since last year’s November adventure, and we’re looking forward to another round. We will host write-ins at the Boardwalk Branch every Tuesday night in June from 6 - 8 p.m. Of course, you’re welcome to drop by at any time, but Tuesday nights are when we will have word sprints, story dares, and more.
So head on over to the Camp Nanowrimo website to register for a cabin, and we’ll see you around the campfire.
