Discover Something New in the Juvenile and Youth Fiction Sections!
March 23, 2014
I’m taking a children’s literature class, and we have been reading a lot of books for 4th through the 8th grade. I have to read one hundred books total! At first, I thought I would never find time to read one hundred books for one class, but things seem to be flying by. I have discovered a lot of new titles and authors I might not have read otherwise.
If you like science fiction, I highly recommend The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness and The Compound by S.A. Bodeen. These were two titles I probably never would have picked up if I hadn’t been in this class. Both are the first in a series, and both have a surprise ending that blew me away! Another one I really enjoyed was Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos. This was the 2012 Newbery Medal winner. It is a really good and humorous story about a boy growing up a Utopian town with his quirky family, friends, and neighbors.
If you are looking for a good, quick read, try the juvenile and Y fiction sections! You never know what you might discover!
