Dinner and a Book
March 13, 2013
A year ago a friend asked me if my husband and I would like to form a reading group with her and her husband and two other couples that I knew. I love to read and I said yes. Also, there would be food, and I love to eat. Each month a couple hosts and serves dinner. They also pick out the book for that month.
We have read some interesting things on subjects I would probably have never read on my own. One couple suggested a theology book, another a book on the Kansas City Mafia. I just finished reading about the Warren Commission. I have learned a lot of interesting things I never knew and had some delicious meals and good fellowship.
Maybe next time we'll theme the dinner around the book we're reading. How fun would that be?
If you're looking to expand your horizons and join a great conversation, MCPL has you covered. We offer book clubs at most of our 30 branches, and all of our branches also provide resources for those seeking to start their own book clubs in the community!
