Day Trippin'
May 12, 2011
Spring is finally smiling on us, and thoughts of summer vacation and weekend road trips come to mind. I found some interesting books on our library shelves today while browsing through the generous collection of travel guides.
One is called Eat.Shop. Kansas City by Kaie Wellman. It's a small portable book filled with ideas for dining and shopping in the Kansas City area. It also has colorful pictures and a few maps to help you find your way. There is an online edition available at eatshopguides.com.
Another book that made me take a second look is Weird Missouri by James Strait. This travel guide directs the reader to museums, memorials, local legends and oddities found in our state. If you are interested in history, you might be interested in Driving Across Missouri by Ted T Cable or Missouri Off The Beaten Path by Patti DeLano. These guides are filled with information about places you drive past every day. They may even inspire you to take a different route. Happy Trails!
