Cool Off With a MRA
August 15, 2011
Here at the Colbern Road Branch, we have a table displaying the MRA’s or Most Requested Authors’ titles. It’s the perfect place to find a great book to keep you inside and cool on these hot summer days. Recently, I picked up Kristin Hannah’s new title Night Road, and it kept me reading through a couple of these 100 degree days.
In her newest novel, Hannah introduces us to Lexi Baill, a foster home reject who has been sent to live with her Aunt Eva in Port George, WA. Lexi, who has always been an outsider and the new kid, meets Mia Farraday on her first day of school, and the two become inseparable. Mia’s friendship comes with her twin brother, Zach, and her overbearing mother, Jude, but they all love Lexi, and she finally feels that she belongs.
The Farradays welcome Lexi into their family, but Jude worries constantly about her children and their new friend. She’s realizing that, as their senior year of high school begins, she can no longer keep them completely safe, and one summer night her worst fears are realized. One decision will alter the lives of the entire family, and each must face the consequences as, one by one, they travel down their own “night road”.
Check out Hannah’s other titles and more MRA’s in the MCPL catalog and find a good book to help you get some relief from the heat!
