Confused About Summer Reading Program?
June 15, 2011
I don't know about all of you, but I'm new to the library. So, this is my first year working with Summer Reading Program. What is SRP? We do a program every summer where children and teens can earn free books and prizes just for reading library books!
For children who read on their own and teens, every 6 hours of reading earns them a free book, up to three books (or they can choose a prize instead on their third reading list.). We have a ton of books to select from here at the library. Even children who aren't yet reading can participate - for listeners, every 24 books they finish earns a book as well.
So how do you participate? You can sign up and list the books being read and times online, (Make sure you click on the correct tab for Listeners, Readers, or Teens!) or you can stop in to the library and we can help. After finishing 6 hours (360 minutes), come on in, select a free book, and we'll take care of the rest.
Need help picking out a good summer read? We can help you with that too. Just check out our Recommended Reads for Children. You can always contact us with questions as well. Call us here at the Excelsior Springs Branch at 630-6721, or check here to see if there's a Mid-Continent Public Library location closer to you.
