Community Programs Coming Your Way!

Need something to do on a cold winter’s day? Want to learn something new? Just want to have fun?

Did you know that your local branches have fun, educational programs? Here are just a few in our area that are coming up soon:

Keeping Backyard Bees
Age Group(s): Family, Ages 10 and up
Date: 2/2/2013
Start Time: 11:00 a.m.
End Time: 1:00 p.m.
Description: Did you know that the age of an average beekeeper in the United States is 56? Or that we have lost close to 50 percent of our bee population in the past five years due to colony collapse disorder? Learn about the function of bees and their role in our food supply chain. Some care and set-up tips will be shared and attendees will leave with a better understanding of how they can make a difference and promote beekeeping in their own backyards. This class is approximately 2 hours.

Beginning Genealogy with Janice Schultz
Age Group(s): Adult, For adults
Date: 2/4/2013
Start Time: 7:00 p.m.
End Time: 8:00 p.m.
Description: This class will focus on procedures, skills, and techniques needed for beginning a search of your family genealogy.

Genealogy with Technology
Age Group(s): Adult, For adults
Date: 2/11/2013
Start Time: 7:00 p.m.
End Time: 8:00 p.m.
Description: Smartphone apps, genealogy programs and sites along with general programs to help organize research are featured in this presentation of technology for genealogy. Discussion, demonstration, and questions from the audience will be featured with this outline.
