This month, the Colbern Road Evening Book Club is discussing Room: a Novel by Emma Donoghue. Join us Wednesday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m. to explore this original piece.

To five year old Jack, room is the only thing he’s ever known. He was born there, he eats and plays and learns there, and he loves his Ma there. Each day he and Ma do multiplication, practice vocabulary, and participate in physical education. But one thing interrupts their routine, Old Nick.

Old Nick brings groceries and Sunday treats. But he’s also mean to Ma, and Jack learns to fear him. Nick has kept Ma captive for seven years, and she’s lucky that she got to keep Jack with her when he was born. After one particularly bad night, Ma decides that she and Jack should escape. Will their plan work? Will they live to see the outside?
