Come Join Us for the Colbern Road Evening Book Club

May 20, 2012

This month, the Colbern Road Evening Book Club is discussing Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Join us Wednesday May 23rd at 7:00 p.m. as we gather to talk about this Pulitzer Prize winning novel.

Through the book, we follow Olive Kitteridge, a retired school teacher, who has a very abrasive and scathing view of the world, but loves the people in it in her own raw way. Everyone around her is changing. Divorces, marriages, deaths, births, and illnesses pervade her tiny town, and Olive has a hard time handling it. In her ruthlessly honest way, Olive reacts to those around her, sometimes sweetly and sometimes with blunt candor.

As the townspeople deal with their problems, Olive learns more about herself than she thought possible. Ultimately, she finds that choosing love is the only way to survive this chaotic world that she wouldn’t give up for anything.
