Come Join Us for the Colbern Road Evening Book Club

January 23, 2012

This month the Colbern Road Evening Book Club is discussing The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Join us Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the first novel in Collins’s trilogy.

Imagine a dystopian world where children are forced to kill each other to win a food supply for their district, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in The Hunger Games. Every year, two tributes, a boy and a girl, from each of Panemss 12 districts are randomly chosen to fight to the death in an arena, which is televised to the entire country.

When Katniss Everdeen’s young sister, Prim, is chosen during the reaping, Katniss volunteers to take her place and is quickly thrown into the totalitarian world of the Capitol where she must fight to survive, to save her family, and to support her district. Katniss soon learns that she not only has to track and kill her fellow tributes, but that the boy from District 12, Peeta, is a childhood friend. Will she be able to kill him in order to survive, or will she sacrifice herself so that she won’t have to make the choice?

We look forward to seeing you at book club and to a great discussion. "May the odds be ever in your favor."
