Christmas Movies We All Love

December 05, 2011

What is your favorite Christmas movie? You know the one that you have to watch every year or it is not Christmas.

For me, that movie is White Christmas. The movie stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen, and Dean Jagger. Bing and Danny are two song and dance guys who use their talents to save their former general’s Vermont Inn. Besides White Christmas, one of the other songs, Count Your Blessings, helps us to remember what Christmas is all about. I get goose bumps whenever I watch the ending of the movie.

When I asked the rest of our staff what their favorite Christmas movies were, I got many answers.  In order of mentions, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animation), A Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown Christmas, Prancer, Elf, and The Santa Clause. So, what is your favorite Christmas movie and why?

Christmas Movies

I like "The Holiday" with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. And my all time favorite is A White Christmas with with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Love when all the men come marching in to surprise the Major General and the last scene when they open up the doors and it is snowing outside. A must watch every Christmas.

I haven't seen "The Holiday" yet. I'll have to look for it.

I like Love Actually because it's set in London, it's modern, and it has Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, and Emma Thompson.

Yea, that was a good one too!
Another good one that is probably not really a "Christmas movie" is "Meet Me in St. Louis". It is pretty old. It stars Judy Garland and Van Johnson. You may be young enough you don't even know who Van Johnson is.
The latest version of the story is "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
The original version starred Jimmy Stuart back in the 1930's I think. It is called "The Shop Around the Corner." All 3 are good! Just a great story.
