Character Books

October 17, 2011

Has your daughter ever asked for Barbie books, or does your son love to read about Star Wars? Do you find it tedious and difficult to look for all the different authors that write these books?

In an effort to better assist you, we’ve now made it easier than ever to find them! We have simply changed the call number (the letters on the spine) to be the first 4 letters of the character. Books without a character and with a regular author continue to have the 3 letter author call number. Character books will be shelved in alphabetical order in with the standard author call numbers. So, Barbie picture books will still be in the Juvenile Easy section, just under the new call number of BARB. Here are a few examples of the 4 letter call numbers:

Arthur: ARTH
Cars (Disney Pixar): CARS
Curious George: CURI
Diego: DIEG
Disney Fairies: DISF
Disney Princess: DISP
Dora: DORA
Spider-Man: SPID
Transformers: TRANS
Yo Gabba Gabba: YOGA

We hope that this will help you find character books more easily. If you ever have any questions or would like to know of more character books, please let us know. We love to make sure that your family’s visit to the library is a great one!

Thank you so much for changing the call numbers on character books to make them easier to find. Very much appreciated.
