Celebrate 2013 and Surviving 2012
January 09, 2013
2012 may have been a rough year, but it officially behind us. 'Tis a brand New Year, and with that we’ll each undoubtedly be listing out brand new or previously unrealized, unsuccessful resolutions.
Instead of chastising oneself for the failures or simply resolving to improve such things as weight loss, finances, and getting more organized, how about instead (or in tandem with these) electing to learn something new, whether it be a new skill, craft, or new way of thinking.
MCPL has a large inventory of books, videos, and audiobooks covering everything from martial arts to crafts, to foreign languages to test books for a variety of occupations. Let us also not forget the many programs MCPL hosts for little or no charge.
This month at our branch, we are having a self-defense program for parents and guardians, as well their teenage girls. Our two book clubs will meet to discuss new titles. Also, we have the first of a two-part t-shirt quilt class, and at the end of the month, we’ll all learn to clip coupons like a pro.
Right now at Claycomo, we are featuring a display by our very own Jessica on an assortment of subjects intended to stir up the creative juices and help quench a mind thirsty for knowledge.
Grab a how-to guide, read outside your comfort zone, or come to one of our programs. However you choose to do it, let the Library help you challenge more than just the scale this new year.
