Caught Between Three Fires
November 27, 2010
Author Tom A. Rafiner will be at the Midwest Genealogy Center on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. to present his new book, Caught Between Three Fires: Cass County, MO., Chaos, & Order No. 11, 1860–1865.
It took Mr. Rafiner six years to research and write his book. He told us, "It was never my intention to write a book when I started this project!" Caught Between Three Fires describes the private citizen’s struggle between three dangerous choices, Secessionism, Unionism, and the Border War. Cass County’s war was cruel and total—no man, woman, or child escaped loss or injury; their individual stories weave history’s fabric. Signed books will be available for purchase, and refreshments will be served.
On Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 2:00 pm, Tom Rafiner will again be at the Midwest Genealogy Center to present his findings on Order #11 and the effects it had on western Missouri’s citizens. This presentation is the beginning of Mid-Continent Public Library’s recognition of the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War years, 1861–1865. Look for more special presentations throughout the next four years.
