The Cat in the Hat is at the Coterie!
December 05, 2011
Last week, I went on a field trip with my son's school to see "Seussical" at the Coterie Theater at Crown Center. It was adorable!
The performance is a musical with adaptations of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who and Horton Hatches the Egg. The children were mesmerized, and watching their faces was as much fun as watching the actors. The kids were absolutely tickled by the funny songs and silly costumes. The rhyming text of Dr. Seuss is used throughout the entire show. You can't help but to smile listening to the lyrical words come to real life.
Reading Dr. Seuss is always fun, and seeing the classic cartoons and new movies is great. But getting to see a live performance of some of the most treasured children's literature of our time is an amazing experience. Horton was as lovable and sweet as the character in the book. The Cat in the Hat is the extraordinary narrator we all love, and the Sour Kangaroo is too funny with her baby kangaroo in her pocketbook. Mayzie LaBird and Gertrude McFuzz add spice to a wonderful performance and really make the story come to life. There are children in the performance who do an amazing job and make the show relatable for all ages.
The encore is a musical rendition of Green Eggs and Ham. The entire audience loved it!
Head to Crown Center to catch one of the best values in town! "Seussical" plays through December 31st.
