Camden Point Summer Time

July 01, 2010

What do kids from Camden Point do during the summer? Camden Point does not offer a lot of entertainment as larger communities and the city provide. However, kids are very resourceful and tend to stay busy.

One way for kids to stay busy is to play ball. They play T-ball, coach pitch, and kid pitch. There are A leagues, AA leagues, and AAA leagues; starting from preschool all the way through high school. Usually there are two games a week; with traveling to be done to the neighboring towns.

Summer school is another event that helps alleviate the boredom of summertime. Ages Pre-K through 8th Grade attends school from 8-4, Monday through Thursday, during June. They learn while doing all sorts of fun activities and even go on field trips. One of the field trips the children in summer school attend is the weekly programs on Thursdays at the Camden Point Branch.

Older youth may be found down at the local park playing basketball.

Besides playing ball and summer school, the kids swim, work around the house or farms, go on vacations, hang around town, go to the local park, watch baseball or the basketball finals on TV, hang out at the library on the computer, and read books for the Make a Splash Summer Reading Program.

Have a fun and safe summer!
