Cakes, Cupcakes, and Parties for Kids!
September 12, 2012
I am a mother of four kids and have had several birthday parties as the years have gone past. I have a set of boy/girl twins, and this year we celebrated their 9th birthday! To make it cheaper, we decided to make their cakes at home rather than order them. So, we checked out some cake and cupcake books from the Library to help us out on ideas.
We have glanced at cake and cupcake books from time to time for their birthday parties gone past, but never actually tried them out. This time we tried an idea that my son & daughter wanted. Their ideas turned out pretty good. Plus, my husband and I made a memory with our twins and helped them have a personalized birthday! It was a lot of work, but it was a fun time well spent with our children. Take a look at the book we used: Cupcakes and More by Publications International, Ltd.
My son (my oldest twin) wanted a cake based on an Xbox game called Mine Craft. My daughter picked out a princess castle from Cupcakes and More mentioned above. We also used several ideas from Pinterest to create a swimming party theme for all those attending. Take a look at our cakes, they may not be professional looking, but great memories were made! Check out the MCPL titles below, and when searching the web, surf www.pinterest.com to collect more ideas.
