A Broad Range of Broadsheets!
March 14, 2017
One day in college, I entered the student union and found free copies of the USA Today newspaper to read. I was enthralled with the idea of reading a newspaper from across the country. Over the years, the newspaper became part of my daily routine. I still enjoy reading newspapers from across the country, however, I do not enjoy the price tag that comes with some of them.
I’m in luck because Mid-Continent Public Library provides current copies of many newspapers in its branches. What about the days I cannot make it into a branch? No problem, MCPL offers several newspapers in a digital format, including:
- The Chicago Tribune
- The Christian Science Monitor
- The Kansas City Star
- The Kansas City Star Electronic Image Edition
- Los Angeles Times
- New York Times
- St. Louis Post-Dispatch
- Wall Street Journal
- Washington Post
Visit your local MCPL branch and see which newspapers they carry! I still prefer a physical copy of the paper; however, the digital copies are convenient when I can’t make it to a branch. Plus, the Kansas City Star Electronic Image Edition looks just like the actual copy of the ‘real’ Kansas City Star.
While you’re at it, you may want to take a look at PressReader. PressReader provides full-image access to hundreds of newspapers and magazines from around the world. More than 90 countries and more than 40 languages are represented.
