Books to Movies

June 20, 2012

Is it just me or does it seem like movie production companies are only making book adaptions (e.g. Twilight and Harry Potter), reboots, and remakes? Now don't get me wrong, I like to see books made into movies, especially with all the special effects and technology they have to play with. But some people don't like their favorite book, movie, or TV show forged, revamped, manipulated, or twisted to fit the movie screen. In my experience, I've learned not to set the bar too high only to get shot down and be disappointed. So, yes there are some book adaptions I'm looking forward to seeing (Beautiful Creatures,The Host, and The Hobbit, just to name a few). Yes, some were bad like Eragon and I Am Number Four, they bombed at the box office. Hunger Games is the best adaptation ever, and The Avengers is the most awesome superhero movie ever made, Hands down! ... in my opinion, of course.

So what adaption, reboot, or remake are you anticipating or dreading? Here are just a few titles that are in the works for adaptions:

  • Delirium by Lauren Oliver
  • Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  • World War Z by Max Brooks
  • Life of Pi by Yann Martel
  • Enders Game by Orson Scott Card

These titles are remakes:

  • Lone Range
  • The Thin Man
  • Total Recall

The Amazing Spiderman will be a reboot.
