A Blog within a Blog
May 23, 2013
While thinking of a topic to write for my latest blog and drawing a HUGE blank, I suddenly thought, "what if I wrote a blog about blogs?" That would surely blow people’s minds. Woah! I don’t claim to know much about blogging, though folks say I’m pretty good at it (thanks, folks!). So I did a little research.
Blogging took off in the 90s, and the term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger and later shortened to "blog" by Peter Merholz. Apparently, there are several different types of blogs according to Wikipedia. I also found out that one can get in trouble, perhaps even arrested, if he’s not careful about blogging. Who knew? There’s even a proposed "Bloggers Code of Conduct." It’s just some simple rules bloggers can follow in an effort to keep things civil. Hmm. Probably a good idea.
Here at MCPL, I don’t think we need to worry too much about all of this. We get to write about lots of fun and cool things, and hopefully someone somewhere will gain new knowledge from it or just laugh (usually the case when you read one of mine, but I don’t like to "toot my own horn")!
So, if you want to start your own blog, or you are already a seasoned blogger (like me – ha!), you can count on MCPL to have all the resources you need to become the world’s next Super Blogger! Here are a few titles to get going on:
- Blogging & Tweeting without Getting Sued: a Global Guide to the Law for Anyone Writing Online by Mark Pearson
- Blogging for Dummies by Susannah Gardner
- Bloggerati, Twitterati: How Blogs and Twitter Are Transforming Popular Culture by Mary Cross
