I thought the weathermen were wrong. I thought for sure they were going to regret their silly forecast. Snow! In May! How ridiculous!
Well, they weren’t wrong. I am so tired of the cold and snow, but I have to admit, the snow looked very pretty on the flowers and blooming trees.
Did you know a cold snap in May is called a "blackberry winter"? It can also be referred to as "dogwood winter," "whippoorwill winter," "locust winter," or "redbud winter." I think it depends on what is blooming where you live.
Recently, before the May snow, I had read a book called Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio. It is set in Seattle during a blackberry winter. It was a good, quick mystery that would have been a perfect book to be reading while the snow fell outside.
It was certainly interesting to experience snow in May, but I sure hope we are done with snow for a very long while!
