The Best Halloween Costume in the World: The Humble Cardboard Box

October 26, 2010

So, it's less than a week until Halloween, and you still don't have a costume. Don't worry! The humble cardboard box is here to rescue you.

When I was young, my mother and I made great use of the cardboard box and various household items to create some really great (and low-budget) costumes. Cardboard box + aluminum foil + dryer exhaust tubing = robot. We even created an entire Fokker Triplane out of cardboard boxes so that I could be the Red Baron.

The cardboard box continues to save Halloween today. Take this group of guys for example. What to be for Halloween? TETRIS!

The possibilities with cardboard boxes are endless: Rubik's Cube, Claw Game, iPhone, Fish Tank, and on, and on, and on.

Yes, that's right. With some cardboard boxes and a little creativity, you could be the hit of the party.

If you've got a really good idea for a cardboard box costume, why don't you share it with us in the comments?  Now, excuse me while I get back to work on my cardboard TIE Fighter.
