Beginning Classes at MGC: The Perfect Place to Start
August 06, 2012
Let’s say you have a friend, we’ll call her Jayne Deaux. Jayne started her genealogy research a few years ago, and spent hours upon hours upon hours researching her family. You thought Jayne was crazy! Why spend so much time looking backward? But the more Jayne talked about her findings and the little clues she followed, the more you thought, "Mmm, this is like all those mystery novels I read." Still, you dug your feet in the ground and refused to become one of those people.
Then, the most horrific thing that could ever happen to a budding genealogist happened to Jayne. She lost all her work! Jayne made the mistake of keeping only digital copies of her research and never backed it up. She thought when she was all done, she would print it all at once. Jayne felt like an idiot and was on the verge of giving it all up. Seeing how much genealogy meant to your crazy, but very best friend, you refused to let her stop. Not only that, but actually offered to start your own research in order to help her reconstruct hers!!
Now where could you and your very best friend Jayne Deaux get the help you need to start from the beginning and this time do it the right way?
Why MGC of course!
The Midwest Genealogy Center offers beginner classes every first Tuesday of the month. We’ll show you invaluable tools like how to organize and keep your research safe, what census information is available to you, and more. Our next Beginning Genealogy classes are August 7 at 7:00 p.m. and August 21 at 10:00 a.m. You can register for classes here.
Whether you’re just starting for the very first time or you’re coming back to it – Beginning Genealogy at MGC is where you need to be. Take it from me, I was Jayne.
