BBQ Championship
February 02, 2012
Don't miss out on the 2012 Truman Heritage Festival BBQ Championship, a collaboration between the City of Grandview and Mid-Continent Public Library. This year's event will take place on May 4th & 5th, 2012 on Main Street in downtown Grandview.
The Truman Heritage Festival BBQ Championship is a KCBS Competitors Series event. All 4 categories – pork ribs, chicken, pork shoulder or butt, and beef brisket – count toward the overall Grand Champion. Cash prizes in the amount of $4,750 will be divided among the 1st through 5th place finishers in the four categories, in addition to a Grand Champion and Reserve Champion.
On top of the four categories, contestants will have the option to sell food to the public for a "Buck-A-Bone" ticket. One ticket is equivalent to $1. Buck-A-Bone tickets will be sold at the Ticket and Information Booth located on site with a portion to be donated to the MCPL Summer Reading Program.
The event will be limited to the first 32 registrants. To register for the competition, go to the City of Grandview website or contact Bob Miller at 816.763.0550.
