Arrivederci James Gandolfini
June 20, 2013
It was recently announced that James Gandolfini passed away while vacationing in Italy. He is best known for his role as Tony Soprano, a gangster with a guilty conscience from conducting routine mob business. If you would like to pay homage to Mr. Gandolfini by celebrating his influence on pop culture, there are a couple titles available from the Library: The Gospel According to Tony Soprano or The Sopranos Family Cookbook (which might inspire you to host a tribute meal).
This discussion may have you wondering about the organized crime in the Kansas City area. In Mobsters in our Midst, former FBI agent, Ouseley, shares his insights on the Civellas, the longest reigning mob family in KC. If you prefer a historical look at organized crime in the metro area, The Mafia and the Machine chronicles how the mob and politics worked together during the Pendergast era.
