Are You Young@Heart?
April 22, 2014
I don’t know about you, but I sure am! My husband keeps reminding me, “You’re not a spring chicken anymore!” This, after I fell roller skating with my nephew. Why? Why can’t I still be a spring chicken? I still FEEL like one! After a heavy sigh, I have to admit, I am NOT a spring chicken. How depressing.
Many of us, while not spring chickens, are taking care of our elderly parents. My in-laws are in their 80s now, and let me tell you, it isn’t easy. I never thought of the issues that our older relatives faced when younger. Now, I am concerned about my husband and myself, as well. If you have tried to delve into the quagmire of organizations, services, and other “helpful” businesses, you will find so much information that it could cause your head to spin. Many of them charge outrageous prices for things that would seem like a basic need.
That’s why I am so happy to be a part of the Young@Heart event that is being held at our Woodneath Library Center. This free event features representatives from numerous organizations: Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Clay County Senior Services, AARP, and more! This event provides information about non-profit organizations in Clay County that help citizens age 50 & older or their caretakers. Volunteer opportunities and free activities for seniors will also be available.
Join us for this informative open house where you can ask questions, learn about services that you might need, and have a snack or two! This event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
I’ll be there and look forward to seeing YOU there, too!
