And the 2010 Winner Is...The Pout-Pout Fish!
August 30, 2011
The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen is the 2010 Building Block winner. Which one will be next? It’s up to the kids to choose!
The 2011 Building Block Picture Book Award election is being held at your local branch from September 1 through December 31. Children not yet in first grade may vote for their favorite title from the list of nominees. Participating in this election is fun for children, but don’t tell them it’s good for them too. Pick up the list of nominees and books at your local branch. When you and your child have read the titles you wish, ask for a ballot at the desk of your branch.
The purpose of the Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award is to encourage language development and pre-reading skills through reading aloud. It will also encourage the development of visual perception discrimination and introduce children to diverse themes, cultures and topics.
This year’s nominees are:
The Cow Loves Cookies by Karma Wilson
For Just One Day by Laura Leuck
Birds by Kevin Henkes
The Great Monster Hunt by Norbert Landa
Silly Tilly by Eileen Spinelli
Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin
