This is American Idol
January 15, 2013
American Idol’s new season premiers this week! (Cue teenybopper screams and teary-eyed fainting.) Ok, I’ll admit it. By my obvious sarcasm, you can probably tell that I am not a huge fan of this show. The crabby judges, humiliating auditions, and the sappy lead-in stories for each segment don’t really scream sophisticated reality drama, but this year, I have to watch.
Not only am I increasingly interested in how Ryan Seacrest keeps his hair looking like that, but I am also watching because Keith Urban is one of the new judges. Seeing him twice a week on T.V. is incentive enough, I guess. So I will endure the horrible performers, Hollywood week, and the painstakingly slow contestant eliminations to hear that sweet Aussie accent. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
If you’re more of a fan than I am and would like to relive each and every episode as well as music, contestant bios, and factual tidbits about all of Idol’s 11 seasons, the Library has a lot for you to look at. Surprisingly, we have sound recordings, DVDs and, yes, even books about all things Idol.
So, pick up a copy of I Don’t Mean to be Rude: Backstage Gossip from American Idol and the Secrets that can Make You a Star by Simon Cowell and get ready for American Idol!

I watched the first half hour
I watched the first half hour of the first show of the season. I couldn't stand the bickering and snooty comments between the female judges. I won't be watching this season of American Idol!
