American Hearth Month
February 04, 2013
February is American Heart Month. Unfortunately, many of us have friends and family who suffer from heart disease. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. The American Heart Association recommends a healthy diet that's low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and sodium. The Library has many healthy cooking cookbooks to get you started.
Being physically active is another important step in maintaining a healthy heart. We have exercise videos available for instruction on a variety of exercise programs.
Smoking cessation is an important life-style change to a healthy heart. You might try reading Smoke-Free in 30 Days: the Pain-free, Permanent Way to Quit by Daniel F. Seidman.
