American Girl Presents: Meet Kaya

August 10, 2010

You'll never guess who just paid a visit to the Blue Springs North Branch!

We'll give you a hint, she has a horse named Steps High. Have you guessed?

If you guessed American Girl Kaya, you're right!  She told us all about Steps High's new foal, Sparks Flying.  She shared many stories about growing up as a Nez Perce girl. Her favorite story, and ours, was the one about her father trying to ride her horse.  She told us that horses are very smart and they can trick you when you are trying to put their saddles on.  One day her father, Toe-Ta, was saddling up Steps High. Well Steps High did not feel like carrying anyone around, so she sucked in her breath while the saddle was being strapped on. This made the saddle nice and tight, ready to go!  Then, when her father jumped on, Steps High let out her air---this made the saddle really loose-- and you guessed it, Toe-Ta almost fell off.  He found himself riding sideways until Steps High knelt down to let him dismount.  We enjoyed this story and the many other stories she shared with us.

Wonder which American Girl will stop by next and what tales she will bring to us?
