Ah, That Noble Equine!

June 07, 2012

The family Equidae includes horses, donkeys, and zebras. While donkeys are considered cantankerous and zebras will never be tamed, horses are noble.

Throughout the ages, horses have represented nobility and power. They are huge, strong animals that made the king more royal and the general more commanding. Armies shuddered at the fact that a cavalry was swiftly approaching.

I was recently reading a story about the current Triple Crown candidate, I’ll Have Another, who is surrounded by controversial humans. The owner runs a  controversial loan company, and a trainer has been fined 9 times for doping. I have decided to focus my thoughts solely on the horse and its noble pedigree.

To help with that, I decided to check out our selection of equine entertainment. First up, the War Horse, a story of a horse that inspires all of the humans that he comes across. Then there is Secretariat, a horse that inspired a housewife to put all her resources behind it in order to see the horse become a champion. And finally, there’s the Black Stallion, a boy and a horse's adventures through a shipwreck and racing.
