Access Video on Demand...Try It At MCPL!
October 03, 2012
Many people are still surprised to learn that the Library has DVDs for checkout (for free!), but even more are surprised to learn that the Library has streaming videos, too. Now, the library had some streaming videos years ago when I first arrived here, and, honestly, they were not that awesome. There wasn’t much recent content, and it was a little bothersome to get to.
Well, my library friends, streaming video awesomeness has now truly arrived! Allow me to introduce Access Video On Demand.
Access Video On Demand is a streaming database of thousands of films on a variety of topics. Whether you’re interested in seeing Hamlet with David Tennant, Ken Burns' The National Parks: America's Best Idea series, or Rick Steves' Europe travels, Access Video On Demand has content for you. Of course, there are loads of other topics, and content is gathered from A&E, BBC, Modern Marvels, Nova, Frontline, and many more quality providers. But it’s not just about watching the videos. You can also read transcripts, search for keywords, and translate the videos into 53 languages.
So think of a topic that interests you, and have a look in your new favorite database.
