Access Video on Demand
February 05, 2013
Students always need more resources for reports or projects, and among our databases is Access Video on Demand. Access Video has a multitude of documentaries, educational films, and instructional videos covering business, career planning, health, history, travel, and other subjects. It also has special collections that not only include reports from various news channels such as History Channel, Biography Channel, and Nova but also Rick Steves’ Europe, TEDTalks, and Modern Marvels.
The database may be searched either by a particular video or a segment of a video. Searching for "Geneva" might bring up a segment in Rick Steves for travel, Empires for historical, and NOVA for the CERN Large Hadron Collider. There is a transcript option that runs beside the video, making it easy to quote. A citation button shows how to cite the video in a paper, and there's an embedding option for PowerPoint presentations.
Well worth exploring for academic and recreational information, Access Video on Demand is another of the multitude of databases offered by MCPL.
