Don't miss out on the 2012 Truman Heritage Festival BBQ Championship, a collaboration between the City of Grandview and Mid-Continent Public Library. This year's event will take place on May 4th & 5th, 2012 on Main Street in downtown Grandview.
If you are like me and love Agatha Christie, check out Louise Penny. She writes a great mystery series set in Canada, mostly around a fictional town called Three Pines. Three Pines is a little town that nobody goes to on purpose. But everyone who finds their way there, tends to stay forever. It is a haven for Anglo and Franco phones alike, artists, poets, burned out bankers and psychiatrists, and any other misfit or lost soul out there. They have no crime, except murder.

Have you ever stumbled upon something completely by accident that you had no idea you needed or wanted, but once you found it, you realized it was absolutely perfect for one reason or another? Thirty minutes later, I had twelve amazing biscuits, indistinguishable from Red Lobster's. Tasty success!
Kermit the frog soulfully sings about the trials of being green in his song, It Ain’t Easy Being Green. Undaunted by the challenges of being green, MCPL is moving forward and rolling out a new program to make our branches green friendly and achieve a higher standard of health and safety for our indoor environments.
Some of our green goals pertaining to our branches are to reduce pollution, conserve resources, conserve energy, and reduce consumption and waste. It begins with how we clean and sanitize our branches.
I may be in need of an intervention. I am never too far from a book. I love books. I wrote a book once. I work in a library. I have a bookcase in my home filled with books. Many topics and genres fascinate me. In case you doubt that I may have a problem, let me tell you what I’m reading right now:
