1940 Census Research
April 06, 2012
I suppose if you are reading this blog, you have already noticed that the 1940 census was just released. Have you taken advantage of the links that the Midwest Genealogy Center has made available yet? I have! I am researching my mother’s family and am hunting for their 1940 address. I need to do a little more research for my father’s family as they were living in a rural area. I found my mother’s family in the 1940 Independence City Directory.
The Midwest Genealogy Center has city directories for 1940 for various cities. You may find a listing of our Missouri Directories on our Resources for Genealogy and Family History page. I then clicked on the link, which leads to the Steve Morse ED Search Tools link. By following the easy instructions, I entered the appropriate cross streets in Independence, and now I have my ED number so I do not have to read the entire 1940 census for Independence. Are you ready for 1940?
