‘Tis the Season for Grilling
August 16, 2012
As those of you who patronize the Lone Jack Branch may be aware, my book display for August is dedicated to books on grilled, smoked, and barbecued foods. Much as I’d like to feature some of my favorite recipes in this blog, copyright laws prohibit such activity. In lieu of that, allow me to share with you a few of the titles I’ve selected for my display.
BBQ Makes Everything Better by Aaron Chronister and Jason Day
A compilation of recipes from a couple of guys whose names you may recognize. Aaron and Jason are responsible for the aptly named "Bacon Explosion" recipe, which has earned them a cult following on the Internet. This book is full of some of the tastiest recipes I’ve encountered; in addition to main dishes, the guys remembered to add in side dishes, suggestions for drinks, and some great dessert recipes. As an added bonus, Aaron and Jason both reside in the KC area, so their barbecue has a down-home, familiar taste.
Grilling Basics by Linda Johnson Larsen
A step-by-step guide to help steer the novice (or the not-so-novice) through the world of outdoor cooking. Included are instructions for different varieties of grills and grilling techniques, including a discussion of different grill accessories and their uses and instruction. There’s also a handy section on temperature control, useful for those of us who love our charcoal grills. The recipes are simple to follow, and your results will be delectable.
