I have never seen kids feverishly paging through a book as much as they have been flying through all of the toy catalogs we have been getting in the mail and the newspaper. Holy smokes! Talk about well loved. These paper versions of their fantasies get creased, folded, torn, shredded, and still they are cherished so kids can continue to drool over the toys of their dreams. The other day, my son carried one of these catalogs around ALL DAY, even while he ate lunch, so he could show everyone what he wanted for Christmas.
Back in October, my mom, the kids, and I went to McDonalds for cheap Happy Meal night. When our food arrived, we were surprised to see it tucked into cute little Halloween-themed plastic buckets. Seeing those little pumpkin pails took me back in time to my childhood and my favorite "themed" Happy Meals—the ones in plastic spaceships.
"Remember those?" I asked my mom fondly, only to have her look at me like I’d lost my marbles. "I think you’re imagining that," she said skeptically. Thankfully, a quick search of the internet proved me right and took me down memory lane with it.
