Do you write poetry? Would you like to meet with others who share your passion? Want to hear the poetry of established poets, and read some of your own works?
Give voice to your musings. Maya Angelou once said that, "Words mean more than what is set down on paper...it takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning." We can make sense of ourselves and our world when we share our experiences through poetry.
How do you go on when you lose your sister to an eating disorder? Join us at the Antioch Branch on Monday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. and discover how Jane copes as we discuss Jane in Bloomby Deborah Lytton.
Attention! The Excelsior Springs Branch is creating a NEW teen section! If you haven’t already noticed, we have moved the "Young Adult" section to where our Reference books were along the wall on the west side of the building next to the Adult Non-Fiction books.
We’ve got some crazy cool events just for teens and we can’t wait to tell you about them.

Teen Game Night at the Grain Valley Branch was a huge success. A great group of teens came out to play board games, eat snacks, and just hang out with each other. The success of this program was thanks in part to the wonderful teachers at the Grain Valley North Middle School, who helped promote the program to their classes.
We're looking forward to hosting another game night soon.
This past week, a bunch of our very talented teen librarians got together with a single goal: to make a zombie movie. Wait, what? How is that relevant to the library? Well, we made a zombie movie to promote our upcoming Teen Summer Reading Program! The very short promo features teen employees and teen volunteers from around the MCPL universe. We had so much fun putting it together.
