Summertime is just around the corner, so how do we keep the reading bug alive? Sign up for the Summer Reading Program at any Mid-Continent Public Library Branch!
Keep your mind sharp and pages turning by taking part in the Mid-Continent Public Library Summer Reading Program. SRP starts May 21 and goes until July 31.
Teens can earn library bucks, which can be used for paying your fines, paying for a lost card, purchasing flash drives and ear buds, or purchasing a backpack or book. Pre-teens can earn a book for the first two lists and a choice of a yellow tote bag, a yellow rubber duck, a yo-yo, or one of many fun books for their third list.
Calling all vampires, beasts, zombies, ghosts, and more! The Summer Reading Program starts next Monday, May 21st. The theme this year for teens is Own the Night.
I broke down and went shopping for flowers yesterday, and that’s when it hit me—it’s almost SUMMER! School will be out next week for many of our school districts, and our libraries will be teaming with children and teens looking for a great summer read.
Our Summer Reading Program begins next Monday May 21. The theme this year is "Dream Big READ!" for children and "Own the Night" for teens. So, be sure to pick up a brochure at your local branch, and check out the awesome summer programs we have planned.
I’m excited, and the reason is because, starting May 21st and running until July 31st, MCPL is launching its Summer Reading Program. For children, the theme being promoted is Dream Big, Read! As an incentive for either listening or reading, children will be able to earn free books and other great prizes. For teens, the theme being promoted is Own the Night!
Summer is upon us, and school is letting out! What will you do with your kids? Just an FYI, we’ll still be having storytimes during the summer. Boardwalk will take a hiatus from May 22nd to June 5th, but then we’ll be resuming for a summer full of storytelling, crafts, movies, and songs. Check out our storytime schedule, sign up for Summer Reading Program, and check out our other programs. And, it’s all free!!
Attention, kids and teens! It's time for our yearly Summer Reading Program or SRP. From May 21st through July 31st, children up through the 5th grade can participate in Dream Big...Read!, and teens grades 6 and up have their own program, Own the Night!!
You will need to register online to participate (registration does not open until the 21st), or come in to the branch after the 21st and we can help you register.
Growing up in USSR, our kitchen was wallpapered with newspaper – a sign of poverty. Cocking my six-year-old head, I would pick out the prettiest shapes, asking, "What is this letter?" I learned how to read from the writing on the wall. Picture books were a luxury, so when I finally went to school, I "swallowed" my school books. Then, I discovered a town library – a musty dark room, crowded with old books, which could be checked for a week – a far cry from the library today.
We're winding down Oak Grove storytimes for the summer. Our last ones are May 22nd and May 23rd. Storytime will resume September 4th. While we won't have storytime during the summer, there is still plenty of fun to be had. Our Summer Reading Program begins May 21st and will continue until July 31st. During this time, we have scheduled many fun programs and activities. Go to our Events Page to take a look and register for programs.
It’s that time of year! I remember May being the end of school and the beginning of MCPL’s Summer Reading Program. I loved MCPL’s Summer Reading Program and now your children can, too! The following are the guidelines for this year’s Summer Reading Program.
MCPL’s Summer Reading Program starts on May 21st. The Reading Program consists of two categories: Children and Teens.
The children’s theme for this year is “Dream Big...Read!” The children’s category is broken down into Listeners and Readers.
