Calling all parents! Calling all children! Storytimes have changed at the Parkville Branch!
Effective this week, regular Toddler and Preschool Storytimes with Ms. Jan and Ms. Natalie are on vacation until September. Instead, all families are invited to Miss Jamie’s Family Storytimes every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from May 18th through July 27th. Here’s the schedule, in case you missed it.
By popular demand, we've added extra storytimes during the week starting on June 1, 2011! During every storytime session, one of our librarians will read an age-appropriate story, and then afterwards the kids can participate in a hands-on craft.
We have a time to fit any schedule or family, and it's all free!
Storytimes are back at the Boardwalk Branch starting Monday June 6th! If you’re wondering just what storytimes we’re offering and for which ages, here is handy chart which we also have in bookmark form at our branch. We hope to see you soon.
Preschool Storytime Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 11 AM No age restrictions.
Family Storytime Monday at 7 p.m.
Baby Storytime Tuesday at 10 a.m. Sign-up is required. For ages 9-18 months.
August is the month when a lot of families are trying to squeeze the last bit of summer fun out of their calendar because it is also the month when many schools start their fall sessions. This August, Boardwalk will be taking the entire month off for all our storytimes. This includes Baby Time, Toddler Time, Preschool Time and Family Time. We will be starting our new fall schedule the week of September 5, 2011.
Look for our new schedules--we are changing some of our start times and adding some additional storytimes. More information will be posted soon.
For the first time in many years, Squeaker is taking a break and going on vacation. He'll be gone for the month of August. But when Squeaker comes back, he'll be rested and ready to do storytimes every Thursday at 10 a.m.
I hope he'll send a postcard to the library while he's gone. I heard that he's going to do some sailing and go to the beach. He's also going to find some great imported cheese during his trip.
The month of August is being spent planning storytimes for the coming months. In July, our storytimes at the Weston Branch were about watermelons, picnics, ladybugs, and other kinds of bugs. Coming to our storytimes in September will be nursery rhymes and two weeks of sheep! We will read about snoring sheep, green sheep, black sheep, brave sheep, and lost sheep.
Please join us at the Weston Branch on Wednesday, September 7th, at 10:00 a.m., for our first sheep storytime. There will be lots of sleepy sheep!
Get Ready for Storytimes and Homeschoolers @ the Library!
Starting in September, our weekly programs will be starting up again at the Edgerton Branch!
Here at Edgerton, we have Family Storytime programs for all ages. Storytimes at MCPL offer a variety of book related experiences for young children. They strive to be developmentally appropriate, and can include picture book reading, storytelling, music, flannel board presentations, finger-plays, short videos, and/or simple crafts.
Would you like to sing some new songs? Would you like to listen to some wonderful new stories? Would you like to see Clifford and his dog house at storytime?
We welcome you back to storytimes in September! We will be so happy to see you: starting weekly on Thursday, September 1 for Baby Storytime at 9:30 a.m and on Friday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. or Tuesday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. for Family Storytime.
Calling all families to join us for a storytime filled with crafts, songs, and stories with Miss Cheryl at the Dearborn Branch. Storytime is every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. beginning September 6th.
There are many reasons to attend storytime at your library, but did you know storytimes are fun? They also encourage group interaction and foster a love of reading! Listening to books is known to improve reading readiness skills in children. Research shows that children who are read to and have exposure to books, have a larger vocabulary and better language skills when starting school.
