I have fond memories as a grade school child of bookmobile day. I recall the excited anticipation I felt as the allotted time drew near when our class was allowed to step into this amazing library on wheels. I can still smell the scent of adventure bound in paper and the sight of beautiful covers that danced before my eyes, all begging to be the next to come home with me.
Calling all toddlers and parents! Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and wiggle your body at our storytime created just for you! A new storytime at the MCPL Raytown Branch begins Thursday, March 3. It’s for babies 18 months and younger, and we are excited about it! It will begin at 9:30 a.m., and last for approximately 30 minutes. Each week, we’ll read books, sing songs, and help parents with book choices for young babies.
Lions and tigers and bears, (and dogs, and snakes, the zoo and weather), oh my! No, we are not in the land of Oz, but these are the topics for our Riverside Storytime in March.
Our storyteller, Kathryn, has planned some great activities and stories for children ages 3-5 years old. Please join us on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 A.M. Reservations are not necessary.
Storytime again! Squeaker has been wondering if being small is not so bad after all. He's been facinated with the idea that a Moose can be seven feet tall at the shoulders, and have a span of antlers of 6 feet. So, Squeaker had to set up a storytime about these wonderful creatures. And since Mary Beth, the story time lady wanted Squeaker to wear antlers, he thought that she should have to wear them too.

No, Santa hasn’t just walked into our branch. Winter is OVER, that’s a promise! However, we are always up for the ringing of bells during our storytimes.
“I decided to take my teddy bear. But my sister said: What if Reggie wants to know your teddy bear’s name? I decided not to take my teddy bear.” ~ Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber.
As summer is fast approaching, are you and your family gearing up for all the exciting things that come in the warmer months?
The Boardwalk storytime presenters are doing the same thing in planning our summer themes. With this in mind, we are taking a break during the weeks of May 23, 2011 and May 30, 2011 in order to recharge our batteries and refresh our energies so that we can offer the best in summer storytimes. Please join us again for all our regularly scheduled times the week of June 6th.
