Summer is upon us, and school is letting out! What will you do with your kids? Just an FYI, we’ll still be having storytimes during the summer. Boardwalk will take a hiatus from May 22nd to June 5th, but then we’ll be resuming for a summer full of storytelling, crafts, movies, and songs. Check out our storytime schedule, sign up for Summer Reading Program, and check out our other programs. And, it’s all free!!
Thanks to everyone that came and participated in our Summer Reading Extravaganza last Saturday! It was a huge hit! We couldn’t have done it without you! Remember, you can still enter the Summer Reading Program and earn fun prizes by signing up on our website.
Mason West had some time on his hands before storytime and found that there was work to do. He kept a close eye on the sidewalk repair project in front of the branch before making a craft with Miss Connie at our Family storytime.

Because the first Wednesday of July is the fourth and the Library will be closed, we will reschedule the monthly evening Toddler Time for July 11th at 6:30 p.m. Join us for stories, music, and a craft.
Please keep in mind that all our storytimes are continuing this summer on our usual days and times. During the month of August, however, all Boardwalk storytimes are on break. So come and enjoy our fun sessions for the next five weeks! See you here!
We are having so much fun at Family Storytime that I’m surprised it’s not illegal! Our giant parachute is the cause of all this fun. Sometimes, we bounce giant beach balls in it. We have made "popcorn" (pom-poms). We played "socky ball" one week. They bounce really well!
There will be no storytimes at the Excelsior Springs Branch for August. But don’t worry, they will be back next month, right after Labor Day. Here’s a look at what we will be offering.
Family Storytime: Every Monday at 6:00 p.m. Toddler Storytime: Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime: Every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
We will not be having 2:30 p.m. storytimes on Wednesdays. Feel free to call us at 816.630.6721, or ask a staff member if you have any questions.
As summer comes to an end, the Smithville Branch will again offer weekly storytimes. Beginning Sept 4, 2012, preschool storytime (3-6 years old) will be held Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and toddler storytime (18-36 months) will be held every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. We'll have lots of fun reading great books, doing fun activities, and making crafts as we learn basic skills necessary for reading.
Parents, caregivers, and children are welcome to share in the fun.
Here at the North Oak Branch, the Children’s programming staff has been hard at work planning out our upcoming Toddler Times and Family Storytimes. We are almost ready! We hope that we will surprise you a little with some of our changes. Toddler Time will start Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11 at 10:00 am. Storytime will start Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14 at 10:30 am.
