There have been reports of missing cheese at the Buckner Branch. From cheddar to swiss, cheese has been disappearing from the break room refrigerator.
Report: Today at 2:30pm, Squeaker the Mouse was caught red handed filching the happy cow cheese in the break room of the Buckner Library. What did he squeak in his defense? “A mouse has got to eat!” Stay tuned to hear more reports on the antics of Squeaker, the storytime mouse.
Just about any day is a good day for a storytime at Red Bridge!
On Mondays and Saturdays at 10, there's Laptime, desgined for children three and under. In addition to reading a few books, this fun and engaging story hour includes finger plays, sing-a-longs and number, letter and color work. It's always a fun time with Ms. Carrie at Laptime!
You won't be able to sit still at our Kindermusik Musical Storytime Thursday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Mid-Continent Public Library Kearney Branch.
Kindermusik is a music and movement program for infants to preschoolers. You and your child will play, listen, and dance to musical activities specifically designed to stimulate early childhood development.
Space is limited. If you'd like to join the fun, call the Kearney Branch at 628-5055 to make your reservation.
Heading back to school is a great time to ramp up for all that new school work and all those extra-curricular teams. But for our library staff who lead storytimes all through the spring and summer, it's an opportunity to catch our breath. Storytimes at Boardwalk will be on hold for two weeks from August 23rd to September 4th. The computer system that handles sign-ups may still list the storytimes during that time as open for registration, but in fact, they are not.
Deep in the night, Squeaker, the story time mouse, is searching for the very best books for storytimes. Most of the time, the main character is a mouse. I wonder why? One of his favorite books is called Mouse Paint by Ellen Walsh.
It's that time again for our weekly storytime to start. It's a new season and we have new themes and exciting activities. September's theme is "Storytime Down on the Farm." Storytime is Wednesday at 10 am.
The Day There Were Three Sarahs at Blue Springs North!
Once upon a time, in a kingdom nearby, there was a lovely library, it had everything a reader might want. This wonderful place had thousands of books, movies, and music CDs. There were fun book clubs, storytimes, and Anime movie nights. Sometimes there were even lions and tigers (no bears), oh my! This special place had everything---except a third Sarah:{
Work, work, work! Whew, is it time for a cheese break yet? Squeaker is showing the librarians that a mouse is an integral part of the computer. Well, of course it is! He is doing research about cheese; there are 670 well known types of cheese produced. Squeaker said that was ok for starters. He’s suggesting a field trip to the local grocery store. Squeaker said, so many cheeses, so little time, sigh. We’ll let squeaker get back to his research and see him at storytime on Thursday.
Pa and Peyton Graduate From Storytime for Toddlers
One of my favorite responsibilities at the North Independence Branch is Storytime for Toddlers. Thursday mornings, I have the pleasure of playing and reading with young children, age 18-36 months. We have a great time building lifelong learners and readers, see why I love my job! It takes a grand commitment for "adult lap buddies" to bring their toddler every week. Pa has been bringing his grandchildren for "years and years", and now Pa has graduated with his last grandchild, Peyton, in tow.
