Asteroid Too Close for Comfort

The sky is falling! Well…maybe not for 11 more years… "Asteroid 2011 MD" flew by Earth on Monday, June 27th—less than 8,000 miles away—but it will be back. Apparently, this bus-sized asteroid is on a similar orbit to Earth. The next time it cycles by Earth in 2022 the asteroid will be much closer than it was this time.
